Moral Creed for All ChristiansAt its best, Christianity has been a bold, counterforce to various forms of "empire" that crush human life. At other times, the central messages of Christianity have been decayed to the extent that it forgets its revolutionary spirit.
This book takes a painfully honest look at how corrupt and self-destructive we can be, with particular respect to American society at this time. It also explains Christianity's central convictions about God's care, rapport with the earth, the nature of hostility, justice and peace, among other things, using scripture as its basis.
At its core, though, this is a book of hope. It tries to capture a vision of what the world might look like if we dare to work towards the reign of God, where justice defines life's latent possibilities and essential needs.
At a time in history when we see again the sacralising of slaughter, this is a timely and challenging book.
