A Quiet Place provides interesting memories of the Otford Conference Centre. The book is filled with photographs and interviews of the people who attended and loved the centre. It includes happy memories of singing, making friends, the scenery and the programs run there.

It would have to be an unlucky former attendee of the centre who found no mention or photograph of themselves or a friend in the book. I found three familiar names and I hadn’t even used the centre.

A Quiet Place also gives a feel of reminiscing, with a photograph of the centre on the cover surrounded by a photo of an old and splotchy records book tied with old string. It is so effective that I tried to wipe off the water strains.

This would be a lovely present for former Methodists.
