Sinead O’Connor

O’Connor says this CD is “an attempt to create a place of peace in a time of war and to provoke thought”. Perhaps peaceful verges too closely on sleepy and monotonous on the first disk of this double album, where there are alternate versions of ten songs and a different 11th song on each CD.

One has acoustic guitars and O’Connor’s voice and the other has full studio arrangements, with fuzz guitars and soul strings.

Covers include “We People Who Are Darker than Blue”, “The Rivers of Babylon” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”. Originals are riffs on passages from the Old Testament, mostly glorifying the Lord ... or Jah ... or U.
