This is a very complete liturgical guide book with lots of new material and it is very Catholic: “the paschal mystery is the central focus of liturgy, of the gospels, and of this volume”.
The book follows the set (Catholic) Lectionary for Year C and each Sunday is divided into three sections: Spirituality, Celebration and Catechesis — reflecting the interests and strengths of the three editors, who have a close association with the Institute for Liturgical Ministry in Dayton, Ohio.
Spirituality centres on the gospel reading; Celebration on the “homily”, penitence and Prayer of the Faithful; Catechesis on the liturgy and liturgical music.
Three Appendixes can be found at the back of the book: (i) all Lectionary readings are printed in full; (ii) the choral setting for the sung response for the Prayer of the Faithful; and (iii) a Lectionary “pronunciation guide”.
While geared for Catholic liturgists, I reckon there is much Protestants can gain from this collection.
